The ambition of this proposal centres on our intention to develop the research management career as a well-defined métier, with a well-characterised profile, skills requirements, career pathways and appropriate developmental supports and recognition for those who choose this career.
Overall Objective
Professionalisation of Research Management as a valued career choice, with identified competencies, progression pathways, standards for benchmarked and indexed salaries and access to appropriate
skills development through a transnational Research Management Hub
Specific Objectives
SO1: mapping existing provision across EU, including existing demographics, progression pathways (formal and informal), policy and certification. To include capturing existing activities from multiple stakeholders.
SO2: Develop a Capability Maturity Model to assess the level of development and capability of institutional and organisational RM professionalisation to serve as a process improvement and appraisal system.
SO3: Develop RM competency models (with specialisation in research data management, project management, engagement, and citizen science as well as outreach and engagement management) to support the four strategic objectives of the ERA. Including a framework and policy recommendations for RM careers.
SO4: Establish European Hub for Research Managers, including a person-centered and designed digital space facilitating brokering, maintaining, and curating collaborative relationships, knowledge sharing and innovative research management practices.
SO5: Become an active voice for the research management profession, contribution to policy at regional, national, EU and international levels.
SO6: Embed European societal ambitions for Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Widening participation in all RM professional activities.
